Description
PT-141 (Bremelanotide) is a peptide used to support sexual function by acting on the brain’s melanocortin system to increase arousal and desire. It is FDA-approved under the name Vyleesi for treating hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in women and is also being studied for erectile dysfunction (ED).
Unlike Viagra, it works centrally in the brain rather than through blood flow pathways. It is administered by injection, with effects typically appearing within 30–60 minutes and lasting around 6–12 hours. Common side effects include nausea, flushing, headaches, and increased blood pressure.
